Le Refuge
About This Spot
Le Refuge unfolds like a comforting embrace in the heart of La Plagne Tarentaise, where the gentle hum of cheerful conversations meets the soft crackle of a wood fire. This French mountain restaurant carries an inviting warmth that feels just right after a day outdoors, its pace unhurried yet alive with friendly energy. Here, the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming — the kind of place where strangers soon feel like old friends, drawn together by the shared joy of good food and genuine care.
Stepping inside, you’re greeted by the rustic charm typical of an alpine refuge, with sturdy wooden accents and cozy corners that invite lingering moments. The staff’s attentiveness isn’t formal but thoughtful, creating a sense that every guest matters, whether they're savoring a slow meal or popping in for a casual bite before evening settles in.
The culinary experience here mirrors the landscape itself — rich, hearty, and thoughtfully crafted. The food is unpretentious yet skillful, drawing on the deep roots of Savoyard tradition. Plates arrive warm and generous, anchored by comforting cheese-rich creations paired seamlessly with carefully chosen local wines. It’s the kind of meal that grounds you, celebrating regional flavors with a straightforward, nourishing approach.
Even amid busy service, the staff’s friendly presence remains steady, maintaining an intimate connection that lingers beyond the meal. Whether sharing a fondue amidst laughter or clinking glasses to mark a special occasion, dining at Le Refuge feels like being part of a moment subtly woven into the fabric of local life — unforced, honest, and quietly memorable.

Lovely staff, so nice, the staff makes the restaurant great! The food is nice too. Cote de boeuf is recommend, as is the steak tartare. The service was quite fast too! Lovely wine menu. Everything you want for a nice evening out!

A typical restaurant in La Plagne. We had a bottle of white wine and a fondue savoyarde with cold cuts and it was really good. You can easily distinguish a good cheese mix It was more than enough we weren’t able to finish it. Staff was friendly and caring We recommend this restaurant

We found this gem of a restaurant on our last night in La Plagne. It was the best value restaurant meal we had all week and in lovely surroundings. The staff were very friendly and attentive even though it was very busy. I would certainly recommend this restaurant!

Our first to Le Refuge thanks to the thatsLaplagne guide. Service was lovely both our Waitress and Barman, The restaurant had a great atmosphere and many happy eaters. We had the cheese Fondue and could not finish but was delicious. Very happy
